Tahereh Mafi is an American author born on March 11, 1988, in Connecticut. She is of Iranian descent and grew up in a Muslim household. She attended the University of California, Los Angeles, where she received a bachelor’s degree in creative writing.
Mafi is best known for her young adult dystopian series, Shatter Me, which has been a New York Times bestseller. The series includes six books, with additional novellas and companion novels.
Her other works include Furthermore, a middle-grade fantasy novel, and A Very Large Expanse of Sea, a contemporary young adult novel that explores Islamophobia in the aftermath of 9/11.
