I love a good age gap and this one did not disappoint! Even with an age difference of more than 20 years, this book got me all the feelings. I’m a fan of the godfather’s best friend and Q.B. He gave us the perfect story for it. Jacob is best friends with Whitney’s father. He was a part of her life from the day he was born. It wasn’t until she turned 18 that he suddenly saw her as more than just a little girl.
Whitney, on the other hand, has had a crush on Jacob for years…and she won’t take no for an answer! However, when the pressure becomes too much, Jacob must make a choice: Whitney or her relationship with her parents. Now, 3 years later, he has found out that she is marrying another man and it’s up to him not to take no for an answer.
I love how the author wrote this story. We have a history between the two characters without excessive flashbacks. Yes, there are some, but we haven’t had many flashbacks detailing every encounter they’ve had to date. We were given quick explanations that seemed sufficient without unnecessarily lengthening the story. The really important pieces were shown in the past and it felt like just the right amount. The story is fast-paced with enough drama, suspense, and love.
Whitney has always had a crush on Jacob, her mother’s best friend and her father. The only problem is, well, he’s her best friend and her godfather. She never thought that he would ever feel this way. After a hurricane, Jacob’s secret romance ends after two years. Heartbroken, Whitney tries to get over it. She never thought that he would come back and want her again. She is engaged to another man and Jacob doesn’t care. She has always been his. What Was Meant To Be is the best QB book yet! I love him so much!!! If you love age gaps, daddy’s best friend, and taboo romance, this is for you!
