THE BOYS FROM BILOXI by John Grisham is a highly entertaining and superbly written legal/political thriller featuring a gripping courtroom drama, the history of Biloxi, and an emotional, multi-generational family drama with two families on both sides of the law.

From the stunning cover art to the characters, story and plot, a gripping tale of good versus evil. I am a huge fan of Grisham and have read all of his legal thrillers and I think the fans will devour this one!

Grisham returns to Mississippi! One hundred years ago we know the history of Biloxi, the seafood capital of the world, its beaches and resorts. There were also many immigrants. Years ago, the Gulf Coast was known as the Poor Man’s Riviera.

However, there is a darker side, and Grisham explores the underworld of the city. From police corruption, prostitution, gangs, smuggling, brothels, drugs, mafia, mob bosses, mobsters and strip clubs. The Dixie Mafia moved into Biloxi to establish their territory in the late 1950s.

The main obstacle to reform attempts has been the long-standing corruption of police and elected officials. Some could not understand (including local journalists) how a religiously conservative state could openly accept such illegal activities.

An emotional multi-generational story of two immigrant families who go their separate ways.

Growing up in Biloxi in the 1960s, Hugh Malco and Keith Rudy were childhood friends who bonded over minor league baseball. Baseball was his world.

The rivalry began as a friendship between two boys with a lot in common. Both were third generation grandchildren of Croatian immigrants and were born and raised in “The Point”, as Point Cadet was known.

His parents and grandparents knew each other and attended the same Catholic church and school, played on the same streets and beaches, and fished with their parents. Born just a month apart in 1948, the two sons of young war veterans married their loved ones and started families.

But as a teenager, his life took her in different directions, following in his father’s footsteps.

Keith’s father (Jesse Rudy) became a legendary prosecutor determined to clean up the coast. He later he became a prosecutor.

Hugh’s father (Lance Malco) became the “boss” of the Biloxi criminal underground.

One father sends the other to jail and then there is war.

Keith went to law school and followed in his father’s footsteps from attorney to district attorney. Hugh preferred the nightlife and worked in his father’s nightclubs and strip clubs.

The two families are headed for a dangerous showdown that will end in court and beyond. He leads to MURDER. In addition, many other topics are covered, such as the death penalty, politics, elections, police procedures, and more.

Greed, revenge and dark secrets are the driving factors of this fascinating story! Readers who enjoy southern history, multigenerational family stories, legal thrillers, intense courtroom drama, and politics will find much to like.

Grisham and Greg Iles fans will devour THE BOYS FROM BILOXI!

Ladies: There are no female leads. We only meet them as minor characters, the wives of the boys and girls who work in the strip clubs and bars. This is a good network of old guys and Grisham portrays them perfectly.

THE BOYS FROM BILOXI is captivating and keeps you guessing until the explosive finale. Rich in history, place, time and characters, expertly written with lots of action and emotion. Highly recommended!
