The vampire Wulfe is missing. As he is deadly, possibly insane, and his current idea of “fun” haunts me, some may see it as a great loss. But warned that his disappearance could topple the carefully forged alliances protecting our pack, my mate and I must find Wulfe and hope he is still alive. At least as alive as a vampire can be.
But Wulfe is not the only one who has disappeared. And now there are corpses too. Has the Harvester returned to the Tri-Cities and harvested souls with its cursed sickle? Or is he just a character from a B-rated horror movie and our enemy is someone else?
The more I follow Wulfe’s trail, the more tortuous and darker the path becomes. I need to find out what’s going on before the next body on the floor is mine.

Wulfe the crazy vampire/warlock has been stalking Mercy in his very special spooky form for a while now. When Wufle disappears, Marsilia strangely warns Mercy, Adam, and the pack that if they don’t find him, there will be dire consequences for the entire supernatural community they’ve been protecting since parting ways with Marrok. Not only is Wulfe gone, but with the help of the Goblin King Larry, they discover that the low-level magic users who moved to the Tri-Cities for protection are gone too. And for those who’ve been anxiously waiting to find out, the Sherwood Post’s identity is finally revealed.
Due to her bonds with Stefan and more recently Wulfe, Mercy begins to have strange dreams that mostly bring back memories of the past, many of which are quite unpleasant. It appears that an enemy that Mercy thought was defeated, or at least contained, is back, causing death and mayhem. Poor Stefan seems to have become a scapegoat, at least in the last book and in this one. Zee is also an important part of this story, and her story will be expanded as well. Although we all know that Zee is many things, well none of them, he cares about Mercy: However, he is very, very dangerous, even more dangerous than she previously thought.
Adam still has to deal with his own super evil and scary monster; he feels that Mercy is too optimistic to be able to control him and it’s not all the Wicked Witch’s fault. Adam has always had a dark vision of himself that feeds his creature. Adam loves Mercy with every fiber of his being, so it’s hard for him to let her put him in danger, which she’s very good at. They have to contend with strange supernatural creatures as well as a very deadly sickle possessed by the person wielding it, making them a true Grim Reaper of the supernatural set.
Warren has queued up for an issue she doesn’t want to share and is lashing out at Mercy and the pack, so it’s no surprise that many issues keep Mercy and company quite busy. Mercy’s trickster father, Coyote, shows up to provide his kind of “help” with some dire events. This story has all the chaos thanks to Mercy, spooky times and intense battles that readers have come to expect from this series, so I think everyone will be very happy.
