One on the journey of redemption and the other to prove himself.

Cohen “Ace” Gray – Commander Pegasus.
He had buried a lover; I didn’t want to risk that happening again. Ace had his own demons to overcome, but working closely with Jacob and his friendship, despite their twenty-year age difference, had made life a little easier. The emptiness Jacob left nagged at him and burned into his brain, making him think that he might have made the biggest mistake of his life by walking away from Jacob.

Jacob Burns: Tech Specialist, Combat Expert, Weapons Expert. He never thought it would be so difficult to cut the threads of his three fathers’ aprons. He has it. They lived brutal lives and took on the scum that afflicted the darkest sections of society. What they didn’t quite understand was that he had observed them and learned from them and would leave his mark on this world. Ace and his parents thought he didn’t have what it takes to be an agent.

You were so damn wrong.

A job.
A chance encounter.
When an unexpected encounter occurs, both men are stunned.

Then shit goes wrong.

I read it in one go. This book is packed with non-stop action. Ace lets Jacob escape because he is afraid of love, but soon realizes he cannot live without him. She must overcome the trauma she has experienced so that she can be with the man she loves.

After realizing that Ace would never love him, Jacob sets out and joins a top-secret terrorist-hunting group. Tired of being treated like a kid by his parents, he goes out there to prove he’s more than capable of being a field agent.

I loved this book with all the twists in the plot, the new characters that come to light and the old ones that we haven’t seen in a long time. This is a must-do and will keep you in suspense until the end.

This Operation Justice Force series really comes together. OJF is the second spin-off series from their original Out for Justice, full of badass alpha males and big butts. Phoenix and Pegasus, two covert ops by ex-special forces and other super-talented ex-agents and the like under one leader. Most of the outfit is paired and each book features one such pair receiving their HEA. But the Ace/Jacob storyline has continued throughout the series. All three of Jacob’s parents operate Phoenix.

He grew up learning warrior skills from his parents and their agents. He’s also a tech genius and a hacker. To escape her overprotective parents, she takes a tech support job at Pegasus and falls head over heels in love with her boss, Ace. Cohen “Ace” Gray – Pegasus Commander and 20 years older than Jacob, he has already buried a young lover, an innocent target to get to Ace. He rejects Jacob because he is too young and inexperienced, not to mention the son of three men who would likely kill him for touching his son.

At 22, Jacob wants to prove himself in the field, but Ace refuses to send him. When his parents send him backpacking to Europe to get him away from his job, he goes rogue and gets a job in the fields with another group and is back in the US working at high risk. . Meeting Ace at work one evening wasn’t something he had planned and they both staggered away. It’s a tough road to his HEA, but when Jacob is captured by a terrorist, Ace and his parents set the world on fire to get him back.

Ace and Jacob’s story was worth the wait. The tension between these two was teased with readers in the previous books. Jacob is an adult and has come a long way from the story of his parents being part of Phoenix, another task force. Although Ace was his boss at Pegasus, he left him when he saw no future with him there. Ace loves Jacob, but his past gets in his way.

His story unfolds in a way that keeps you on your toes. It would be better if you read the rest of the series first and a bigger bonus if you read Reese Knightley’s other series. The characters appear throughout the series as they share a common goal of defeating villains. If you are looking for ex-military/law enforcement, highly trained agents or task force type books with lots of action, lots of steam and guaranteed HEA for MM MC then you can’t go wrong with this author as she writes some of the best.
