Duke Dillon Viscount Leigh has secrets. The fact that her estate is nearly ruined is just one of them. So she must marry an heiress and fast. The house party would have been the perfect place to find one, too, if only a certain loud, stubborn, overly beautiful lady hadn’t made it her mission to foil him.
Isla Woodville liked Lord Leigh when he met him. But that changed the moment he heard his requirements for a bride. Well, if he thinks he’ll marry an heiress for nothing more than her deep pockets, he’ll be in for a rude awakening, because Isla won’t let him get away with such cruelty. And she will enjoy every minute she spends ruining her not-so-noble intentions of hers.
But when a kiss as passionate as it is premature brings their cat-and-mouse game to a head, Duke is forced to offer marriage to the last woman he’d ever counted on: Isla. Is the happy ending even a choice for two? sworn enemies? Duke and Isla are now about to find out…

Lord Leigh needs money, his estate is in ruins, and his mother has been sent abroad and locked up in an insane asylum. What he needs is a rich heiress, what he wants is Woodville Island. But after hearing him talk about marrying just for money, Isla is horrified and decides to teach this man a lesson.
This wasn’t a bad read, but it certainly wasn’t my favorite. I loved the first book in this series and am a huge fan of Tamara Gil’s writing style, but this book fell short for me.
At first there was a lot of repetition, about the fact that he only marries for money and that his mother is in trouble. It was too used.
Isla started out as a nice character, but somewhere in the middle she became cruel and vindictive, and I didn’t like that. She then became a bold woman who had to control everything, including sex.
The banter between them should have been playful and teasing, but it didn’t sound like that to me.
And unfortunately I never felt a connection between Isla and Duke. It seemed like the lust and sex scenes were released for free. Both characters felt really shallow.
To be honest I was a bit bored for most of the book, the only part I really enjoyed was the last two chapters and the epilogue.
So why a 4 star rating? All in all, it’s not a bad book, it just wasn’t a great book for me. I love the story and it redeemed itself at the end. Tamara Gill is a great writer and I think a lot of people will enjoy this story. I look forward to more stories from this series and from this author.
On A Wild Duke Chase embodies everything that I love about the Tamara Gill’s writing. There is beautiful dialogue, fiery passion, and an intricate and captivating plot. Isla Woodville is immediately attracted to Duke Dillon, Viscount Leigh. Duke seems to be every woman’s dream; until Isla overhears a conversation about Duke’s plan to lure an heiress into marriage to save her estate from financial ruin. Isla vows to stop Duke’s plans, but the two become magnetically drawn to each other.
It is strange that Isla can be considered a victim in this story. Duke constantly lies and cheats, but he does it for a much more personal and darker secret. I have found Isla to be self-righteous and uncompromising at times. I felt empathy for Duke, a man in an untenable situation who is forced to marry for money when he is in love with someone else.
Duke’s humanity and weaknesses were beautifully on display. Isla’s imperfections also made her more accessible, if sometimes frustrating. The couple’s connection is an instant, fiery tug. The passion and the romance of this book are undeniable.
The plot developed well, but I felt like it slowed down towards the end. The writing was clever and the characters alive. I wish Isla had shown some empathy for Duke when she finally reveals his darkest secret. The story piqued my interest and the romance was gripping and captivating. On A Wild Duke Chase is the 2 book in The Wayward Woodvilles book series.
Addictive stories about the Woodville sisters! Tamara Gill creates an enchanting universe of riveting romances that I keep wanting to revisit! I voluntarily read and reviewed an advance copy of this author’s book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
