War leaves no one alone. Neither the past, nor the present, nor the future offer true security, and the only refuge is what you can protect: your family, your friends, your home.

Jamie Fraser and Claire Randall were torn apart by the Jacobite Rising of 1746, and it took twenty years of loss and heartbreak to reunite. It’s 1779 and Claire and Jamie are finally reunited with her daughter Brianna, her husband Roger and her children as they rebuild their home on Fraser’s Ridge, a fortress that could protect them from the winds of war and the weather.

But tensions run high in the colonias: battles rage from New York to Georgia, and even in the mountains of upstate, emotions are hot enough to boil the kettle of hell. Jamie knows the loyalties of his tenants are divided and it won’t be long before war is just around the corner.

Brianna and Roger really have their own concern: that the dangers that caused their flight from the 20th century may catch up with them. They sometimes wonder if risking the dangers of the 17th century, including disease, famine, and impending war, was actually a safer option for their family.

Not far away, young William Ransom must grapple with the mysteries of his identity, his future, and the family he never knew. His ex-father, Lord John Grey, must reconcile and face danger on behalf of his son and for himself, and young Ian Murray, in the far north, fights his own battle between the past and the future and the two women. who loves

Meanwhile, the Revolutionary War draws ever closer to Fraser’s Ridge. Jamie sharpens his sword while Claire sharpens her surgeon’s knife: it’s time for steel.

The ninth book in Gabaldon’s Outlander series sees the Fraser family reunited during the American Revolution. The year is 1779, and Claire and Jamie Fraser have found each other across time and space, living peacefully in North Carolina. Jamie Fraser and Claire Randall were separated by the Jacobite Rising in 1743, and it was twenty years before they were reunited. But even in northern North Carolina, the effects of the war are being felt.

Hi, my name is Amy and I’m an Outlanderaholic. She had never read a novel more than once…until Outlander came along. I’ve read books 1-8 twice and watched the series so I pre-ordered it as soon as the next book in the series was announced. At over 900 pages in tiny font, the hardcover was daunting, but the length wasn’t the issue, it was the weight. Holding it hurt my arthritic hands, so I put it on my shelf with the rest of his family and wasted the e-book. Much more manageable!

Diana Gabaldon’s ability to convey historical details, from food, nomenclature, clothing, hairstyles, culture, music, tools, dwellings, etc., amazes me. She has to spend almost as much time researching as she does writing. She impressively manages to merge real people and places with the fictional. Most of the people in Fraser’s Ridge are not actual historical figures, but many other characters were involved in the Revolutionary War. Her use of accents brings authenticity to her books, particularly Gaelic. I speak Scottish for days after closing the cover of one of her novels.

In her last books, the author focused too much on Roger and Brianna and less on Claire and Jamie. That made sense for the continuation of the series, but fans were disappointed. In Go Tell the Bees, she went back to why I love the show… the star-crossed time-traveling lovers. However, for the first time in my off-duty tenure as a superfan, I have a few minor complaints (I was happier reading before I started editing full-time).

First, it’s ridiculous that Jamie and Claire are experts at everything they set out to do. Second, it’s important for writers to vary the length of their sentences so they don’t sound choppy, but in many cases Gabaldon wrote incredibly long sentences with multiple semicolons and hyphens, and I got lost on that. Third, I hope it stops Claire from saying “Jesus H. Roosevelt Christ” so often. It was insulting.

Just my two cents – clearly you don’t need my credit or criticism. Before issue #9 was released, he had already sold 26 million books, not to mention the dollars he made from the series. The ending of Go Tell the Bees was disappointing, but the good news is that it clearly set up the next part.
