Hades, god of the underworld, is known for his uncompromising rule, lavish nightclubs, and impossible deals. Accustomed to control, he is not ready to discover that fate has chosen his future wife and queen: Persephone, the goddess of spring.

Despite her attraction to the god, Persephone, an aspiring journalism student, is determined to expose Hades for her cruel and ruthless ways. She challenges him at every turn, even as the attraction between them flares.

Hades faces the impossible and proves his bride-to-be wrong. Regardless of his efforts, there are forces that want to keep them apart, and Hades realizes that he would do anything, even defy fate, for her forbidden love.

I really loved A Touch of Darkness and wondered how different the story would be from Hades’ point of view. Turns out the answer is: A LOT! And all in a good way! I loved this book. It’s bolder, darker, sexier and much more grounded in lore and mythology. The gods play a central role and each has his own personality. I couldn’t get enough!

Seeing the darkness in Hades, his lopsided moral compass, and the secrets he keeps and continues to keep from Persephone makes him a much more complex character. He is not just a sex god, he is a man with complex and insecure feelings who would do anything for his woman. I loved his interactions with Hekate and Hermes, who have officially become my favorite supporting characters. New scenes were added to the familiar ones, raising steam tenfold.

There is so much to the story, so many unique threads that change the way scenes play out in ATOD. I thought it was cleverly done and a joy to read. The banter and chemistry between the two leads was fantastic and they became one of my favorite pairings of bookworms. There were also subplots and threads left open for future books and I can’t wait to see how they fit together.

A Game of Fate is perfect for anyone who loves new urban interpretations of mythology and legend, steamy and fateful romance, and morally gray heroes with their secrets at heart. I can’t wait to see what happens next!

A Game of Destiny isn’t just a touch of darkness in Hades’ point of view, it’s actually an entirely different story. It’s like we’re getting a glimpse of what’s going on behind the scenes.

A Touch of Darkness is about Persephone and how she does it herself; she tries to become independent and at the same time fall in love with a god, the god of death, her fateful husband and her king.

A Game of Fate is about Hades and how he realizes that he has a connection to Persephone even though he doesn’t even know who she was. But fate quickly put him out of his misery by telling him who and what Persephone was, especially to him. Side note: I loved how he was always cursing the Fates for what they did.

Now one was usually delighted to discover that he had a fateful mate, a queen, and while Hades was happy, he was scared too. First, what fate gives, fate can easily take. Second, Demeter. The mother-in-law goddess. Do you see her how she can’t she jump for joy?

I loved the secondary characters. We see more of Hekate and Hermes and their relationship with Hades. They’re back, they’re great, but they don’t steal the show. I loved how the author introduced new supporting characters (Hephaestus, I’m looking at you) and how deep and dark this narrative really is.

And hotter. I don’t really recall A Touch of Darkness being this hot, but I’m all for the sex fest! I mean, can you really blame Persephone? I really don’t understand how she put up a fight for so long.

Anyway, I don’t want to say more so as not to spoil it, because it’s the kind of book to be enjoyed. Fair warning, you might fall in love with Hades even more, I didn’t think it was possible, and maybe you’ll miss him when you’re done reading AGOF. I loved it even more than the ATOD and also highly recommend it. Easily one of the hottest and best countdowns out there. I can’t wait to read A Touch of Ruin in POV!
